Valek is determined to protect Yelena, but he's quickly running out of options. The Commander suspects that his loyalties are divided, and he's been keeping secrets from Valek...secrets that put him, Yelena and all their friends in terrible danger. As they uncover the various layers of the Commander's mysterious plans, they realize it's far more sinister that they could have ever imagined.
What I liked: No matter if you enjoy Ms Snyder's stories or not, her writing is excellent and entertaining. From the very first book starring Yelena, Poison Study, I was captivated by the setting, the characters and the overall plot of "The Study" series.
Ms Snyder's characters come alive and you can't help but get involved in their lives, whether they be "good or bad". After all, in such a unique storyline, who is to say, what's good and what's bad.
By popular demand Ms Snyder was coaxed into writing more Yelena and Valek books in the Soulfinder series. I didn't realize how much I missed this wonderful world.
In Night Study, Yelena is still dealing with the loss of her Soulfinding abilities and she thinks there might be a reason for that, but will have to wait and see. I flew through the pages of my NetGalley ARC and was very happy to see Yelena and Valek have a bit more time together but also their adventures apart didn't feel so gut wrenching. As always, Janco and Ari provide not only the comic relief but in my opinion are fantastically written characters.
I was ecstatic to read Valek's backstory and was completely surprised and over joyed in the direction the author took the story. We finally learn so much about his family and background that's he's a little bit more human. He's seemed to me to be a bit distant with everyone except Yelena. As a reader, I felt he consistently had secrets that would make an impact on the story and boy, does he!!
I'm still feeling out a few of the newer characters and don't look forward to the final book in this trilogy, Dawn Study.
What I didn't like: Not so much what I didn't like as I'm a bit concerned on how Ms Snyder will wrap up all the loose ends in just one book. She's raised so many questions with the Soulfinders series, I can't wait to see what she does with all the characters.
I received an ARC from NetGalley for a fair and honest review.
Highly Recommend but please start with Poison Study. You won't be sorry!
