Trix changed her name and her life when she got clean four years ago. Now, she has a new family and a job she loves—tending bar and dancing at the Broken Circle. As an O’Kane, she’s happy, untouchable. Until a nightmare from her old life tears her away from her home and drags her back to Hell—also known as Sector Five.
He’s still living—and dying—in it.
Losing Trix was the kick in the head Finn needed to get sober, but working as an enforcer for a man he hates is slowly crushing his soul. The only thing that keeps him going is his determination to destroy Sector Five from the inside. Then Trix comes back into his life—alive, in danger—and nothing else matters.
Getting her home could be a suicide mission. The only thing deadlier is the old spark that flares to life between them. Soon, Finn and Trix are battling the one addiction neither of them ever managed to kick—each other. And it could cost them everything.
The Beyond series is set in a time when after solar flares the world as we know it is divided. There's the closed off Eden full of the rich and affluent but outside the land is divided into sectors ruled by harsh individuals determined to protect what they see as theirs. Sector four is ruled by the powerful Dallas O'Kane and is the place where Trix has finally found home. She escaped the drug induced hell she lived through in Sector Five but has never forgotten the man she left behind, enforcer Finn. Finn seemed to care for her but survival has always had to come first. Trix finds herself a pawn in the battle for Sector supremacy and is kidnapped and returned to the cruel head of Sector Five but there she meets Finn again and a whole new world of hurt opens up for both of them. When Finn realises the woman he believed dead is alive and in danger, he makes a choice that will rip his life apart, but without the woman now known as Trix he feels nothing and that's not worth clinging onto. Finn was lost and felt empty but with Trix by his side he has hope, oh it's not for himself, but a faint hope he can save her. By saving Trix, Finn has put them both in the firing line but she is the one woman Finn deems worth dying for!
Such an amazing amount of world building in this book. It's dystopian, futuristic, post apocalyptic, and even has the feel of an MC vibe running through it. Each book features a different couple from within the O'Kane gang but there's always the messy business of sector politics and underhand backstabbings to keep the reader’s attention engaged. Beyond Addiction, like its predecessors tries to push buttons sexually and it's frankly a very hedonistic way of life in Sector Four but as usual we are given strong characters to cheer for no matter how flawed they might seem. A wonderful series that just keeps ramping up the tension and a must read.
