Finding a man is the last thing on Sierra Elder’s mind. A recent transplant to Denver, her focus is on opening her own boutique. Wanting to cover up scars that run deeper than her flesh, she finds in Austin a man that truly gets to her—in more ways than one.
Although wary, they embark on a slow, tempestuous burn of a relationship. When blasts from both their pasts intrude on their present, however, it will take more than a promise of what could be to keep them together.
Austin is the eldest son but unlike most of his brothers, he hasn't gone into the family construction business but instead has started his own tattoo shop. He is a man with particular "needs" and just hasn't found quite the right woman to satisfy his soul but Austin would really like to finally meet a woman that completes him. Unfortunately somehow that doesn't seem to be on the cards, but everything changes when new girl in town, Sierra, walks into his shop!
Sierra has had a difficult few years and has finally plucked up the courage to relocate and try to rebuild her life so the last thing she needs is a tattooed hunk mouthing off at her! That's exactly what happens though when she gets on the wrong side of the sinfully sexy Austin but all is not quite what it seems. They may have gotten off to a bad start but Sierra is not letting that put her off and she's determined to go back and get her first tattoo. Austin knows he was an ass so when the opportunity to lay both his ink and his hands on the tempting Sierra comes, he's not about to mess it up but there's something between them that just awakens all his senses. Austin is determined Sierra will join him in exploring the connection between them!
Oo, I really enjoyed Delicate Ink and loved the twists Ms Ryan added and trust me, you won't see the big surprise coming! What I didn’t like was the instant lust, but that's a personal quirk of mine and I do get that for these two characters it works well. Sierra is emotionally and physically scarred and yet with Austin around, she feels beautiful and I loved that he could do that for her. He seems to see the woman beneath the skin and it made me like him so much more because, frankly at times, I wanted to shake Austin! Still when they connected, there were most definitely fireworks as the sexual tension between them was palpable. Sierra has more in common with Austin than she realises but it's a slow road to trust and so very worth it.
As for the world building, well this is a family with great dynamics and I foresee lots of ways Ms Ryan can take this series. It's not all hearts and flowers though, so expect the unexpected as grown up issues that are not always tackled in romance do rear their somewhat ugly head at times. I found this book to be thoroughly entertaining and can't wait to see what happens next to the Montgomery clan. There's a certain Saint briefly mentioned who has got to be a bad boy to die for! I'm so pleased I read this book and happily recommend to anyone looking for a fabulous read!
