A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk…
Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media’s harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.
A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that’s all it was meant to be…
Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he’ll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn’t only her body that’s become addicted to Fox, but her heart…
Molly is at a party when she spots Fox, a rock god and notorious bad boy, and oh boy, is he a tempting sight but he wouldn't be interested in a quiet librarian like her would he? Well that's exactly what happens as when Molly starts to leave, she is joined by Fox who seems a lot more than just mildly interested as he actually wants to go home with Molly! This is the sort of thing lots of young women dream of and one night of passion with this tattooed hunk of awesomeness is something the usually circumspect Molly cannot resist. It's a night filled with hot, sweaty sex and Molly doesn't expect to ever see Fox again, but he persuades her to let him stick around because, after all he has to return to the states in a few weeks so what's the harm?
The more time Molly spends with Fox, the more she likes him and he is not the pushy, arrogant guy she imagined as Fox has his own abandonment issues to contend with and a quick temper that causes problems. As for Molly, she has her own reasons for preferring a quiet life away from the spotlight but the media are never far behind Fox! Can Molly take a chance on Fox or is their sexy world about to come crashing down?
Ok, first off this reads as a book of two halves, initially the couple meet and the persuasive Fox charms the pants off the heroine Molly, quite literally! It's a period that felt a little slow and to be fair was mostly an awful lot of raunchy scenes. The second half of the book sees the couple trying to see just how good a fit together they are. I much preferred the latter half of the book as both characters open up and let their vulnerabilities show. Molly takes a chance and when things go badly wrong, it was beautiful to see that together they could weather any storm!
I will admit I missed the world building Ms Singh's paranormal stories offer, but I could easily picture the situations described particularly as the book progressed. There's a few quirky characters lurking in the background who clearly need to have their stories told and although it was instant lust/love ( I missed the chase!), this turned out to be a believable romance about two people living in what feels like a goldfish bowl. In reality, it's hard to sustain something so precious with so much pressure on celebrities but this is romantic fiction and anything goes!
There is a lot of sex in this story and at times I thought it was how the young couple communicated! Also, I'm not overly fond of virginal heroines but I guess Molly had her reasons. So in conclusion, I think I do prefer Ms Singh’s paranormal books but I think fans of contemporary romance will be overjoyed by this book. A tortured hero and a heroine who takes a chance amidst very challenging circumstances. Ms Singh has the ability to take a relationship back to its bare bones and once again has written a passionate story with details that both shock and delight.
