Copilot of the Blood Hunter, Daisy is a newly-turned vampire, and she's hungry. Really hungry and it's interfering with her plans for revenge. Unfortunately, the only thing that can distract her from said hunger is sex...which is a problem when she can barely refrain from draining any man dry within moments. But old flame Fergal Cain might just be the sexy-assed solution to her problem.
Part human, part cyborg, and with a poison coursing through his system, Fergal's running out of time to find the scientist who has the cure. Unfortunately for him, the misfit crew of the Blood Hunter put a serious kink in his plans. And if the poison doesn't kill him, the hot little vamp he can't resist might do the honors herself...
In the last book, Temporal Shift, the crew traveled through a worm hole but not all came back the same. Daisy almost died and the captain, Rico, turned her into a vampire in order to save her. As Blood and Metal begins, Daisy is struggling with her unmanageable thirst but she's about to meet up with an old lover whose blood is unlike any other she has tasted! Fergal has spent the past six months trying to track down the scientist who forever altered him. Fergal might have started as human but now he is part cyborg and time is not on his side. When Rico and company break into the prison where Fergal is undercover, he chooses to help save Daisy, but now the jig is up and Fergal's plans are well and truly scuppered! Caught up in the plans to eradicate the Church forever, Fergal has to make a devastating decision, leaving the lovely Daisy behind but this vampire is determined to get her man!
I love this series and I'm increasingly amazed that each book is so different to the last. Nothing is repeated and each story feels fresh and yet, it just builds up to be something that pulls me in and I don't want it to end. If you like snarky heroes, then you get those in spades here but fear not, these heroines are more than capable of giving the guys a run for their money. The books are always fast paced with edge of the seat action and suspense. Ms Croft does an incredible job of wading into a complicated world and yet, makes it all make sense. Expect romance but most of all expect to be entertained. My only proviso is please read in order as they just keep building layers and already I want the next one!
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
