Ty is willing to break every rule to save the world. And to save Eden.
As they set out on their dangerous journey to the gate Eden is kissed by the god. It's then she realizes Ty holds the power to break through every wall she's erected around herself and force his way into her heart. But what will happen when they close the gate and the world returns to normal? Can a mortal and a god ever be together? And with an evil lord on their trail, will they even succeed?
CONTENT WARNING: Contains sensually erotic scenes, a snarky heroine and a gorgeous god.
Eden is alone, her family have all succumbed to a plague and now she's the only one left. Feared by the villagers, Eden lives in the forest but it's a long cruel winter and hope is in short supply. Eden prays to the gods for help and the most amazing thing happens, Tyondric, (Ty for short) the fire god, appears before her to offer warmth and comfort . Ty and his fellow gods can only help each mortal once during their life but something about the stubbornly independent Eden is impossible for him to ignore. Eden is no ordinary mortal though as her soul is pure and those seeking godlike powers are searching for her. Ty decides to help her again but there's a price to pay and it's a high one!
A truly magical storyline that's let down slightly by the short length. The idea of an immortal learning to love is not a new one but it's done very well here and I loved Ty's gentle bemusement of how relationships work. He's not the typical chest beating alpha male but a sensitive and more sensuous type of guy. Learning to love Eden is not an easy task. She's never really known true love herself and struggles to accept the possibility of Ty truly caring about her. Luckily her hesitance when it comes to relationships is not reflected when it comes to survival and she's a very brave courageous heroine prepared to take on any challenge.
I wish Eden's Fire had been longer and Ms Holt had developed the storyline further. For me there is a distinct lack of world building as I really wanted to know more about the Gods and the lands they had created. Although it is a romance, I wanted a bit more passion,if honest, but it's a beautiful love story and one I truly enjoyed. I'd love to read more from this author and sincerely hope Ms Holt expands this idea to give the other Gods their happy ever after. A short story but beautifully told.
Eden's Fire is an e-book. At B & N, it's $3.99 and at Amazon, it's $3.03
