On the run, Jessica and Rourke head to the mountains. Several surprises await them, but in order to save her father they are forced to leave for New Orleans early.
Arriving on the Vampire Queen's doorstep unexpectedly, and bringing trouble on their heels, the Sects are thrown into an all out war. The vicious
skirmish ends up forcing the vamps and Jessica to fight on the same team.
The Vamp Queen ends up owing Jessica, but what Jessica doesn't realize is just how soon she'll have to cash it in...
Wow. Each new entry in the Jessica McClain series just gets better. Ms Carlson is showing what a talented author she is. The first wasn't my favorite but first books in a series seldom are but they are the backbone of the series. They set the stage for
What I liked: The world building continues and the characters are growing by leaps and bounds. The one that has stayed true is Jessica. Yes, she's growing and learning but from the first book, Full Blooded, her core values have not wavered. While Jessica more or less stays true, the rest of the characters are being more fully developed. I enjoyed learning more not only about the characters but their different Sects. Cold Blooded is action packed from the very beginning and doesn't let up.
What I didn't like: I'm having a problem here. While no book is perfect, I can honestly say I found nothing that distracted from the story and the characters.
Since Cold Blooded hasn't been released yet, I find I'm going to miss Jessica and her world until next we meet. I'll be dogging NetGalley awaiting the next in the series.
Highly recommend. Kudos Ms Carlson.
