Eric Pate is used to making his own rules—as the director of the PARA Unit, he is the boss. Everyone rushes to obey his commands, and no one knows his secrets. No one ever gets too close to him. But then he meets her.
Ella Lancaster is tired of being a prisoner. She escaped one hell just to find herself in another, but Eric doesn’t consider her containment with his agents as punishment. He actually thinks it is a form of protection. But Eric is so very wrong. Ella doesn’t need protecting, not for anyone or anything.
But when the PARA Unit comes under attack, Ella and Eric both find themselves battling a supernatural beast that they never expected. Forced to join forces, to make a deal, Ella and Eric are soon fighting side-by-side, and their attraction for each other can’t be contained or controlled. Hot. Wild. Consuming. Ella’s deal with her devil is soon taking over her life.
And as Eric falls deeper and deeper under the mysterious Ella’s spell, his legendary control begins to crack. The beast that he has kept chained so carefully inside rises to the surface. Unfortunately, when the devil loses his control…there is real hell to pay.
Deal with the Devil deals with the aftermath from the previous book, Charming the Beast, when the team rescued an unknown woman from a crazy werewolf. She's something different and whilst Eric gets answers, the woman (Ella) is held in containment; but Ella has no intention of being held captive ever again and will do whatever it takes to escape.
On the surface Ella appears to be a vampire, but she's something far more ancient than that and when her secrets are revealed, it's Eric who has to watch out! Ella and Eric are explosive together. Make no mistake, this couple just cannot keep their hands off each other! Is it too much, too soon? I think for some readers it might be but it didn't bother me. However, I just didn't buy into what Ella's past brought to light when it was explained. No spoilers here, but there's an awful lot that Ella and those like her are partially responsible for and even though it's fiction it just didn't gel well with me. I do try to suspend all belief and enjoy the ride but eek, there was an awful lot thrown into this melting pot.
Deal With the Devil is without a doubt an action packed story, filled with romance, and cameos from those characters we've loved in previous books. As a reader, I sat down to read about a villain who deserved payback and then wham, Ms Eden upped the ante with someone/something even more evil.
Eric does not disappoint and his secrets and control are bust wide open, making this an exciting book to read. Ella just wants her Mate and is so sweet considering she's part of a race that perhaps, isn't always known for being good! She's never a pushover and perhaps a touch naive at times, but she trusts her instincts and more importantly, trusts Eric.
I really enjoy this series with its mad mixture of creatures and hot romance. Shane from the second book will always be my favourite male character, but for pure edge of the seat shock value, Eric comes pretty close.
If you enjoy intense and exciting paranormal stories with unusual bad guys, then these books really need to come home with you!
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
