So….Magic Bleeds. Unbelievable!! I didn’t think anything could top Magic Strikes but my memory was faulty. There is so much happening in Magic Bleeds that I felt like a ping pong ball. Ilona Andrews wrote the first three novels WITH NO SEX!!! At least between Curran and Kate. Bunches of attraction and tension but my gosh, come on already. I think Jeaniene Frost (The Night Huntress Series, Cat and Bones) finally called Ms Andrews on it. I remember cheering Ms Frost on when she commented (paraphrased), write the sex scene!!
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time wondering, will this be the book where Kate and Curran finally get together? Nope, not telling. Read it and find out. Magic Bleeds shares more information into Kate and her feelings. She loves Curran, she has her ward, Julie and most of all, she has friends. Now, she understands why life with attachments is so hard and complicated. A new “bad guy” enters the picture and wants to demolish Kate and all she cares about. The worst part, the bad guy may be a relative.
Kate has a lot on her plate and the reader is along for the ride. What a ride it is! Magic Bleeds will have you biting your nails and ready to pull out your hair, in a good way. The action, information and decisions just keep coming and coming. Take a breathe where you can because it’s intense and wonderful at the same time.
The gift Ilona and Gordon Andrews have is freaking fantastic. That’s the only way to say it. Magic Bleeds flows effortlessly, descriptions paint a picture and the feelings are real and heart wrenching. The character development from the first novel, Magic Bites, to this one is one of the best I’ve read. All the novels interconnect and the Andrews’ don’t forget one thing. They tie it together and wrap it with a bow. The secondary characters aren’t just window dressing either, they have some major conflicts and decisions hanging over their heads too.
I originally thought Magic Strikes was my favorite and now I’m torn. I had completely forgotten the impact of this novel.
For this series, price is not a consideration. I WILL buy the book. For those of you who like to know, the Kindle version is $5.99 and the paperback is $7.19
Highest recommendation (but you must read this series in order).
