But Kaye isn’t that kind of girl. She is a powerful fairy, and the last thing she wants is to be burdened by this mysterious shifter, even if he does insist that her life is in danger.
Who does he think he’s dealing with? Kaye doesn’t need protection from anything, and even if she did; she can certainly handle herself. Or, so she thinks. But when the dark shadows nip at her heels, and evil curls its inky fingers around her world, threatening to destroy everything she loves, she might just change her mind. That is, if it’s not too late.
Her only hope of survival may lie with the one man she doesn’t want, but can’t seem to forget. Her dragon.
Readers: This is the first novel in my brand new series, Shifting Magic - a world where shifters and supernaturals co-exist. My hero, Darius, is a dragon shifter intent on protecting the beautiful fairy Kaye, from the evil that threatens to invade her world. This is an adventure story with magic, lots of shifting and plenty of romance. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did bringing these wonderful characters to life.
Away on a weekend with her 'sisters' she meets Darius a dragon shifter with a fierce protective instinct which it turns out just might be what the doctor ordered as there's someone threatening Kaye. Kaye may be stubborn but it looks like she is she's going to need to call in the big guns and let's face it they don't come much bigger than a dragon! Problem is Darius has his own baggage to deal with but perhaps together (if they survive!) they just might find a solution.
I loved the idea of supernaturals living amongst humans and thought Ms Vale had clearly thought it through and several times she mentioned things that would be a real problem to those like Kaye. If honest, I don't think I've read any other book that went into the same amount of detail as to what living conditions would actually be if such things as iron were a real problem.
Although the imaginative ideas didn't stop there and I really found myself awed by the descriptions of some of the dwellings and architecture in this story. Yes, there's a mystery surrounding Darius for Kaye to get to the bottom of which was a little predictable but primarily this story is about Kaye and just why she is being targeted. Okay, yes, it's the start of their romance too, but unfortunately, I didn't really feel much passion which is probably because it's the beginning of this couple's journey. Yes, there is without a doubt attraction and even some chemistry but for me considering Darius is a fire breathing dragon, it just lacked the expected heat.
A good start with hopefully even more action and adventure to come.
This is a voluntary review of a copy I received and is my honest opinion.
