(Book One in the Rescue Me series about the men who own the Masters at Arms BDSM Club)
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is an introduction to the series, but does NOT have the Happily Ever After endings that will come in the next three romance novels in the series. Being the back-story that usually is not told in "real time," there are some intense themes in the book, including death of a spouse, incest, torture, a battle scene, and amputation.
What I liked: I was pretty much not interested in reading ANY type of BDSM but a book convention changed my mind and thank goodness, I started with the right book. Ms Masters attended an Indie author book convention held this past October in Lebanon, TN which I was also attending. I like to be a prepared attendee so thought I should read one of her novels. I started with this novella and was hooked. Not so much on the "kink" but on the stories of the men and women involved. Master at Arms is the MUST read first book in the series. I adored how Ms Masters wrote this introduction to her series. The characters come alive and you are fully invested in each and everyone. Not only is Master at Arms well written but you can tell it was researched in depth. The feeling and emotions pour from the pages. None of the scenes made me giggle in disbelief or feel uncomfortable.
What I didn't like: Nada!!
Master at Arms is free for Kindle but the better deal is to buy this one combined with Nobody's Angel for $.99. You won't be sorry!
