Andrasta, Celtic goddess of victory, has fled the cold, sterile wasteland of Otherworld for the steamy South American jungle. It's only a matter of time before the vengeful gods catch and punish her - unless she can convince the man she betrayed two thousand years ago to help…
And only her enemy can save her
Born in Otherworld to the life of a god, Camulos went rogue centuries ago. He's living on the banks of the Amazon, boxing in bare-knuckled fights. The gods believe he's dead - until Ana finds him. Ana, the woman who gave him nothing but trouble, and the woman he could never forget…
Even the gods have secrets
Thrown together, Ana and Cam must evade the wrath of the gods and a return to the living death of Otherworld. But as they flee through the jungle - and as their passion ignites - they find themselves at the heart of an ancient secret. One that could kill them both and extinguish their souls forever...
For over two thousand years Cam has lived amongst the humans and now the woman who ended his previous life wants his help. What is a guy to do? Ana tried to kill him and now it seems she wants him to do the same to her, but Cam isn't the same man he once was and has come a long way in two thousand years. There's unfinished business between them of that there is no doubt but treachery is riding fast on their heels. Once decisions were clear cut and easy but time has changed this couple and as they struggle to elude the dangerous forces hunting for them they learn so much more about each other.
Okay, now I'm going to be frank and say the idea of a romance between this couple does seem preposterous. Ana killed Cam! That is the bottom line after all but Ms Hall sneakily has fabulous twists and turns she employs to make it a believable romance. I suppose the danger and adversity they face forces them both to reassess just what it is they want from life. At first Ana just wanted to escape permanently from the Underworld but as their journey continues it's clear that nothing worth having is ever going to be simple.
So the author did a fabulous job of making what at first seems crazy, well not crazy! A passionate tale of love and redemption but most of all a story of two people who need each other. This series is not over yet though so I expect yet another explosive story is on the cards.
I was gifted a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.
