Half-demon, half-dragon shifter Ian McCabe is hellbent on getting back the only woman he’s ever loved. When Fiona O’Riley kicked him out of her life decades ago, he thought she was gone for good. Now that she’s back, nothing will stop him from claiming her. But she wants nothing to do with him—or his family.
She’ll do anything to save him.
Fiona knows that Ian is the only male for her. The only way to keep him alive is to stay away from him. But when tragedy strikes and they discover a wicked agenda for the mass murder of humans, they must work together to take down the enemies that threaten everyone. But there’s so much more on the line. As their undeniable desire intensifies, they’re faced with an unbearable choice. If Fiona and Ian succumb to their temptation, mating could be the last thing they ever do.
Now though Fiona is back in Ian's life and all the dirty secrets are being revealed. Fiona was cruelly manipulated by those who should revere her but as far as Ian is concerned, it's finally time to step up and stake his claim. Well, that would be fine except for tiny details, like her brothers are still around to stir things up and then, of course there's a master plan in motion that sees Ian and Fiona heading straight into a Hell dimension!
Fiona has a sweetness to her that's often lacking in paranormal heroines but that isn't to say she's weak, far from it, but she has been betrayed and treated abysmally. Ian is alpha to his core and struggles to play nicely with others but that just adds to the fun! Their second chance at love gets all kinds of messed up though leaving the couple with a huge dilemma. Luckily Ian has reluctantly found allies and it's these interactions that often made me smile although if things are to end happily, it's going to take a leap of faith.
Such a creative series with characters that just leap off the page. I won't go into the plot as it unravels at an interesting pace with a huge twist. There's enough action to keep you engaged but if honest, it's the minutiae details that flesh it out as supporting characters become very real and I can't wait to see what Ms Reus dreams up next.
