Though she should be in hiding, Avry will do whatever she can to support Tohon’s opponents. Including infiltrating a holy army, evading magic sniffers, teaching forest skills to soldiers and figuring out how to stop Tohon’s most horrible creations yet; an army of the walking dead—human and animal alike and nearly impossible to defeat.
War is coming and Avry is alone. Unless she figures out how to do the impossible ... again.
I’m so very glad I didn’t have to wait too long for this follow-up novel, as Touch of Power ended on a cliff hanger. Ms Synder gets right to business in the continuation of Avry’s adventures. Scent of Magic is an excellent read. It, too, is action packed but what I really liked is she slowed the pacing a bit and fleshed out the characters and world building.
Avry is a strong compelling lead. While she is the star, we are also seeing some of the storyline from Kerrick’s point of view. I enjoyed that part of the story was in another area of the 15 Realms. We also learn more about Kerrick’s background and family.
While I seemed to be holding my breath through most of Touch of Power due to all the action; Scent of Power gave me a chance to enjoy the characters and relationships. The action was more spread out but it was there.
I’m certainly looking forward to the next in this series. Impatiently waiting!!
