What I liked: I was really afraid I'd be lost as this is the 6th book in the series but the way the synopsis read, it was more like a prologue to the series. No problem with getting lost! This was also my first book by Mr Jacobson. I was pleasantly surprised and now want to go back and read the other books in the series.
Spectrum is almost two or three stories in one. It's going back in time not only for Karen and how she came to be an FBI profiler but also it goes back in time to develop the killer's background. At first I was a bit confused but soon figured out exactly what the author was doing. It was refreshing to read a story with this setup.
I enjoyed Mr. Jacobson's writing style and even as an ARC, it wasn't full of mistakes to throw me off. I liked the pacing and the full development of the characters. As it spans over 17 years, I thought I might get bored or bogged down, I didn't.
What I didn't like: I did initially have a problem discerning how much time had passed between chapters but soon fell into a rhythm to keep track.
Spectrum just sparked my interest to start a whole new series!!
Recommended for fans of the series and also as an opening to starting the series!!!!
