She has 15 plus books/novellas/short stories self published. She has a very loyal and dedicated fan base, with which she interacts on Facebook. No Twitter, no splashy promotions and it works wonderfully for her. At one time, I braved a request for an interview. She was very gracious, but she doesn't do interviews.
With just that small email back and forth, I could tell, Ms. Geary is not in it for the money but for love of sharing her stories. The fans pick up on that. Visit her Facebook page and you can see it's more of a community than any other I've ever seen.
Her books tackle touchy issue with grace and truth. There's no overt sexual scenes, but with all the babies being born, you know there was sex, lol. The series is much about life with the witches as the everyday characters.
Ms Geary does have LOTS of characters. It's a community and they all tie together. Occasionally you can forget who's who. Her solution, establish a Wiki for the characters in her series. The fans are helping and become a bigger part of the community. Brilliant idea in my humble opinion.
