She just needs a little longer. She’s really close. Dr. Rebecca Jackson, a medical researcher, stands on the verge of a breakthrough that will transform medicine. But she soon discovers the reason behind the miraculous progress in her research, and it leaves her with a nearly impossible choice . . . and little time to decide. More than her research is at stake. And more threatens it than this latest revelation. Something she’s tried hard to cover up. There is a high cost to some things in medicine and it’s not always the patient who pays. Can Rebecca find the faith and wisdom she needs to make the right call? The clock is ticking and the pressure is on.
I must say the idea behind Lip Reading is what made me request an ARC as I like medical suspense books. The writing and development of the story were top notch but the two main characters left me baffled. An incident happening 20 years before the current story colors both their lives. They are damaged, sympathetic characters.
Neither character had my attention from the very beginning. I just couldn't buy into that part of the story. The rest of the novel's characters seemed more interesting.
With the prices on Amazon scheduled to be $9.99 for both the Kindle and paperback editions, check it out of the library.
When a survivor of the chilling massacre crawls out of the desert, Cooper comes to the obvious conclusion – with major cartels just across the border in Juarez, this has to be about drugs.
As he begins to piece together the case, Cooper is drawn into a world of violence and treachery. Soon he finds himself on the run, framed for murders he didn't commit. But being a fugitive just happens to be the perfect cover for his most dangerous mission yet – crossing the border and infiltrating the cartel.
Coming face-to-face with a terrifying madman, Cooper soon realizes that the airport massacre was just a dress rehearsal for something even worse
I sincerely enjoyed Standoff. The characters captured and held my attention and the novel was action packed with plenty of twists and turns. While I hadn't read any of the previous entries in this series, I wasn't lost and could follow the story easily.
Both the Kindle and paperback versions seem a bit high at $6.06 and $13.49 respectively.
