Anson is a fierce Dragon King, a dragon shapeshifter born and bred to protect his own. But when a rogue tech company hacks into their world, he must join forces with the unlikeliest of allies: a human female. Her name is Devon Abrams. A rising star at the firm, she has no idea that her boss is in league with the sinister Fae and their secret war against humanity. If Anson gains her trust, he can defeat the enemy from within. But first he must fight his own attraction--to this exquisitely beautiful mortal...
Devon loves her job at the firm. But sometimes she wishes she could find a man--a real man--who isn't threatened by her success. When she first meets Anson, she's overwhelmed by his powerful masculine presence and disarmingly gorgeous smile. But when he reveals his true mission--and his ability to transform into a dragon--she's irresistibly drawn into an epic battle between humans and immortals, magic and technology, danger and desire. Anson vows to protect her from the Fae. But can he control the flames of passion that blaze within his heart, in Blaze, the next sexy Dragon romance in the Dark Kings series from New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant.
Devon is determined to rise to the top and her ambition has taken her pretty far up the ranks at Kyvor but she has no idea the company she works for has a habit of removing any and all who oppose them. Well, that is until she starts receiving cryptic messages and then meets Anson, who is Devon’s idea of the perfect man, except unbeknown to her, he really isn't a man at all! Devon may be a workaholic but she's no simpleton and when she starts trying to delve deeper, she gets caught up in a world of magic and obsession. Anson needs to discover who is pulling the strings behind Kyvor and stop their interference in the lives the Dragon Kings have so carefully cultivated, but he never expected to feel so protective of one human woman. A woman who turns out to be far more important than the Dragon Kings realised!
Okay, Blaze has the two lead characters happily enjoying their sizzling chemistry and to me it felt a little too immediate; but then they have both been lonely so let happy times commence! Ms Grant always writes scorching romances but it's her constantly evolving work that keeps me entertained. I've enjoyed the way her Reaper series connects with these stories, but now there's signs of her Dark Warriors and Dark Sword characters also being added to the mixture. Clearly a joy for longtime fans but also a treat for newer ones as it's enriching the world building to no end.
If you enjoy her Dragons then seeing Druids, Immortal Warriors, and even Gods get involved will surely leave you bouncing in your seat. Yes, this series is certainly hotting up as secrets start to be revealed. Everyone's favourite, Fae Rhi, is still torturing readers with "her King" but guess what? He's not that far away! Hmm, I do have my suspicions but my lips are sealed.
I would have liked more of a resolution as honestly apart from the mating, I just didn't think there was any real progression here but yes, I'm still very likely to read the next book.
A copy of Blaze was provided for me with no requirement to review. I've voluntarily read it and these thoughts and comments are I believe a fair opinion.
