What I liked: As I said, Divinity is different. It's bittersweet in some ways but certainly kept me entertained enough to finish. Who doesn't love books about Angels. I've read many and took a chance on Ms Johnson's offering.
This is a series I can see growing and developing over time. I think I've said it before, the first book in a series has such a big job to do so I don't necessarily go into a new series expecting a best seller. Divinity is a good solid first book in the series. Backgrounds are given but not too much. Characters are introduced but you want more of their backstory. See what I'm saying?
I really enjoyed Ms Johnson's writing style and the plot layout of the book. She provided just enough to keep you reading but wondering at the same time. I especially enjoyed seeing the Archangel's interactions with each other. In addition, it was a completely intriguing point of view on how much they could or could not interfere with the timeline.
What I didn't like: I'm a bit on the fence with Divinity. The book was well written and is developing but it didn't reach out and grab me. As I write this review, I'm struggling to remember big moments or things I need to know.
Overall a good opening to a series. Recommended to fantasy lovers who enjoy Angels!!
