Sarita has seen some crazy things as a cop, but nothing to rival Domitian. A vampire? Seriously? But his healing ability, incredible powers, and their mind-blowing physical connection—none of it should be possible, yet her body knows differently. Now, not only do they have to save each other, but other innocent lives are at stake. Failure is not an option, for Sarita intends that Domitian show her exactly what an eternity of pleasure feels like…
So, this series has been leading up to all the dastardly deeds that have been happening on a mysterious Venezuelan island and the Immortals have never been in more peril. You would think with all their strength and speed they would be invincible, but unfortunately not, as they all share a weakness, the need to protect their life mates! Domitian found his when she was barely a teen and nobly decided to wait until Sarita had grown up and tasted the world.
Now he wakes, chained to a table, and faced with the independent life mate who never knew existed! Sarita has been lied to, drugged, and now she's all alone with a blood sucking vampire! Still, it's not all bad as he is kind of cute, but it's a bit creepy that he's had her followed for the past fifteen years and as far as Sarita is concerned, there's definitely not going to be any sexy shenanigans. Hmm let’s see how long that lasts!
Keeping a long running series fresh is a challenge that Ms Sands has clearly relished and this new departure has so many possibilities. There's still the heat that excites so many readers with veteran characters making an appearance and of course new and somewhat unusual ones here too!
If honest, I was a little taken aback by Sarita’s initial reaction to everything she sees and learns, as personally I'd have been running screaming but then again as individuals, we all react differently. Sarita is sassy and stubborn but pairing her with such a sweetie as Domitian worked out beautifully. Yes, there's danger, suspense. and humour too but for me the mad scientist added just enough darkness to keep me gripped.
A copy of Immortal Unchained was provided to me and I have voluntarily read it which means my comments are my own honest opinion.
