One bite can change you.
And one kiss can change your destiny...
Nadya Dalca has been handed a death sentence. She's been bitten by the last living genetically enhanced werewolf―part of the Nero Organization's disastrous Moonlight project. With the poisonous blood now coursing through her system and pushing her to the limits, it is only a matter of time before Nadya's fate is sealed...
Gareth Takoda told himself he couldn't get involved. Caught up in a maelstrom of grief and bitterness, he has been isolating himself from his Pack. But when he is charged with watching over Nadya's first transformation―or bear witness should it go horribly wrong―Gareth is torn further by unwanted desire and the need to protect what is his.
One kiss changes everything. One shattering, all-consuming kiss. And with it, Nadya and Gareth face either salvation...or death.
Nadya has recently come to live with them but as a human unfortunately came into contact with one of Nero's genetically altered werewolves and was bitten. She is about to make her first change but the virus she is infected with is a lethal one that means her life is on the line. Nadya is empathetic and the last thing she needs is to be bombarded with everyone else's fear for her, so feels drawn to the enigmatic Gareth as his feelings are always under wraps. It’s a connection that's about to have all sorts of repercussions. Just one touch between them and Nadya's inner wolf wakes up and wants a whole lot more and as Gareth has his own mission of revenge there's going to be trouble ahead!
This is a great follow up to the previous book, Hunter's Touch, and it was lovely to catch up with the pack but as this episode starts it's a very confusing time for Nadya. She knows the particular virus she is infected with was created by Nero to create super soldiers but it's unreliable and the mortality rate is off the charts. She wants to live and the only person who can help her is the packs doctor but he is courting her and what's a girl to do? Add the sexy Gareth to the mixture and it's a triangle that would give anyone a headache but events have a way of happening that will surprise even the most cynical.
I love this series and Ms Kessler does a great job of writing sexy alpha type males. Gareth's not the alpha of his pack but he's strong and very determined to do what is right. He has reasons not to trust anyone from Nero, but Nadya isn't quite so sure and frankly if your life was on the line what would you do? Luckily, there's time for this couple to explore what lies between them and oh boy do they have a steamy ride; sex on a Harley anyone? (I'm still fanning myself now!). As for Nadya, I loved her spunky attitude and the fact she took chances and embraced life. What surprised me though, was the Native American heritage that played a strong part of this storyline. It was incredible the way the author seamlessly managed to bring it vividly into what is a shifter tale.
We don't really get to see a great deal of action in Blood Moon, but there's plenty of trickery at play that leads nicely to the next installment. Fabulous, sexy, imaginative and such fun!
