Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile case. Nevada isn’t sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.
Then she’s kidnapped by Connor “Mad” Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run or surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.
Rogan’s after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she’s getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.
Now luckily those pulling Nevada's strings are not the only power in play and a certain Mad Rogan is also seeking the same fire starter, Adam Pierce, that Nevada is but their first meeting is anything but sweet! Mad Rogan kidnaps Nevada and seeks to interrogate her for information but Nevada is far more than most people realise and fights back. An uneasy alliance follows, but there's no way Nevada will ever trust Mad Rogan and yet there's something about him that wakes up her libido. No that's most definitely not a good thing but as Pierce starts playing his games, it's clear the only chance they have is to work together.
I loved Burn For Me and even though it is a romance, it took a while for that side of things to become apparent. Yes, this is probably more urban fantasy than romance but it's clear just where this strange partnership is heading. It's not a sexy read but the hero Mad Rogan is arrogant, dangerous and very sexy. Add his amazing powers into the mix and you can see that it would take one hell of a strong woman to deal with him! Well, it just so happens that Nevada, although young and relatively inexperienced, has great depths. She has a strong moral compass and her love for her family keeps her grounded making her a very likable character. So does the guy get the girl? Or will the authors build up the sexual tension until the readers are screaming? One thing’s for sure, this is a book that's going to be very popular.
