How To Claim Your Dragon...
As the head of security of Vegas's Crown Jewel casino―and its hidden dragonshifter sanctuary―ice dragon Darius Dachien commands respect. Unfortunately, that respect isn't always reciprocated. In fact, when it comes to the stunning Mei Chen, hostility might be a better word. Which makes things even harder for Darius, since Mei is his dragon mate. Without her, his dragon form is fading fast... and once lost, will be gone forever.
Mei can't deny the fierce chemistry that simmers between them. If Darius were ever to discover who―or rather, what―she really is, she wouldn't just lose him, but her place with the dragonshifters. The moment Mei's past comes crashing into her present, she realizes her time for secrets has ended. Now she must reveal her true self... and risk both her life and her heart with the one man who could destroy her.
Mei has a secret and it's one she has managed to hide but it looks as if her carefully constructed world is about to come crashing down around her ears! If the truth is revealed she would be despised and hated but worse, both the lives of Darius and Mae would be forfeit. It's believed that the reviled and treacherous water dragons have died out, but Mae knows better and as danger closes in she will protect Darius any way she can!
If honest it took me a while to warm up to this central couple. Mae can be very cool at times but as a reader we know she is just putting up a front but I still didn't always like her. Darius has tried for years to get Mae to mate with him but his tactics are just a tad dubious at times. Confronting her hasn't worked, wooing her seems impossible, and trying to make her jealous is just the worst idea! Fortunately, Mae does feel as passionate about him as he does her and is a strong enough character to rise above all that's thrown at her. I found it surprising though as she's portrayed as a victim of abuse but when she comes out fighting, heaven help any who stand in her way!
I love the idea of this world of dragons and their individual differences were really explored in Dragon Her Back and trust me there's a very good reason why ice dragons stay out of the water! I'm so pleased Ms Scott allowed us to read about the dragons in all their glory and her world building is definitely expanding. If you enjoy paranormal romance then this series is well worth checking out and I congratulate Ms Scott on this action packed addition.
