Jian, Master of the House Xanthe, has devoted his life to returning his family to their former prominence. When he’s offered a contract to hunt down the missing Sovereign, he’s eager to accept. The last thing he expects is to encounter a stunningly beautiful angel who stirs more than his lust.
In a world where succubi have become extinct, the male Incubi are forced to rely on the female Nephilim to provide both sustenance and more importantly the continuation of their bloodlines. A fragile truce exists between the angels and the demons but there's treachery within their ranks and not everyone wants peace. War is coming, but maybe if the truth is discovered those who have so cruelly deceived their peers will face justice, but who will save them?
The first story introduces Devlin, the Master of the Gravori Incubi, who takes the Nephilim, Nahiri, hostage in retaliation for the brutal staying of his brother. As he spends time with her, he starts to realise something sinister is happening amongst the Nephilim and their leaders might hold the clue. The courageous Nahiri sets his pulse on fire but will she want to burn with him?
The betrayals are widespread and Incubus Master Canaan Romerac has spent five hundred years trapped in the demon prison, Oubliette. When he escapes, his hunger leads him to Rayna, a Nephilim who hides from those who would use her like a brood mare. Their attraction is intense but can Canaan find out who sent him to hell before Rayna is taken from him? There's something very wrong and it's not just the Nephilim leaders who seek to twist fate for their own gains.
Incubus Master Scarus Vipera is probably one of the most feared Incubi in existence. His brutality is legendary but he hides a secret heartache that he never expects to conquer. Determined to replenish his energy but equally set on not getting any Nephilim with child, he selects Rosamund to be his for the night but he is about to get much more than he expected. Rosamund has no wish to remain cloistered and dreams of freedom but one night with the deliciously demanding Master might well be her undoing!
It's clear nefarious plans are afoot and the Incubi leader seems to have gone missing. Jian, Master of the house of Xanthe, accepts the assignment of investigating the rumours. Jian travels to the home of their Sovereign but what he discovers leads him to travel somewhere very few ever leave. There he meets Muriel, an abomination. She's hiding a secret and unfortunately Jian is a man of many talents and for Muriel it might just be time to come out into the light. Cruel deceptions have been in place far longer than most know; and without realising it Muriel holds the key to enlightenment, but first she will have to learn to trust Jian, the male she considers an enemy!
Masters of Seduction was a fascinating mix of shameless and steamy sex scenes combined with an intricately woven plot that twists and turns and pulls the reader in. Not everyone is whom they seem and it's becoming clearer that trickery and lies, not to mention murders, have been happening for quite some time. Once there were ten Incubi Houses and unless action is taken, soon there may well be far more casualties.
I really had fun reading Masters of Seduction and my only complaint would be it felt like a very quick read. Lots of heat but we are dealing with sex demons so that's not a surprise but the conspiracy running through these stories is becoming much more apparent as the book continues. I'm not a fan of instant love in books but as these are short reads I can forgive it. I will happily read the next book when it becomes available as the plot has captured my imagination. These talented authors have done a really good job and if you enjoy paranormal romance then this should tick all your boxes!
