Seducing the enemy has never been so tempting…
For the last five years, bookish Claire Williams has been living for the dying. Now that her stint as caretaker is over, she’s off to see the world. She needs quick cash first, so a temp job at Anderson Auctions seems perfect, especially with the unexpected benefits, including the hottest man she’s ever laid eyes—or hands—on.
Former Marine William Anderson has been burned one time too many. His military training makes him the perfect man to flush out the spy undercutting his family business, but no amount of training can prepare him for the kind of undercover work he’ll have to do when the sexy new temp is implicated. Desire lands them in bed…but duty may cost him his heart.
Okay, from the first page as our hero William meets Claire, you just know this is going to be one of those stories that keeps the reader chuckling. There's an almost Bridget Jones vibe going on initially as the couple skirt around each other with great banter and it's dialogue that's fast, furious, and most of all believable! I could picture this pair in my mind, both clearly attracted and yet still a tad wary. William in particular has a very good reason why he should have reservations but he is a man who looks deep beneath the surface and it makes him eminently likeable. Claire deserves happiness but she is quite reserved (understandably I must say), but when she lets her guard down her inner sex goddess is released and the lucky William doesn't quite know how to handle it initially but trust me that man is worth the wait!
I think that's what struck me most about Sleeping With the Boss, as the title is a bit (read lot!) of a misnomer, as there is no instant lust and jumping into bed, no Ms Clarke skillfully builds the sexual tension and when the couple finally connects, it's like fourth of July with lots of fireworks! Funny, sexy and this book left a smile on my face, so I happily recommend it.
