Enslaved feline shifter, Josephine Young, has learned the hard way not to believe in anything or anyone—not men, not love, and certainly not the blood-sucking mistress who tossed her into the cage with the hungry beast she’d betrayed. But Josephine does what she must to survive, including tempting the dominant werewolf to give her more than promises.
Imprisoned for their blood, Jared and Josephine fight for survival and discover a passion that neither can walk away from. Can these two predators survive long enough to prove that cats and dogs can be more than enemies?
Important note for readers: This book is an adult paranormal romance set on an alternative modern earth where a great many different shifters live in Los Angeles. It contains violence, swearing, and explicit sexual scenes. No cliffhanger ending. Happily Ever After.
This is relatively short at less than a hundred pages but it took me somewhere I've never been before in paranormal fiction. I've mentioned that Josephine is a Cat but because of a collar that prevents her fully shifting she struts around human sized but kind of furry! I was a little nonplussed that Jared found this a turn on but he clearly enjoyed her tail and the interesting view as she's naked. but for me, it really wasn't erotic.
The plot was interesting though and even though at times Jared was quite violent I understood his reasons for keeping up his subterfuge. There is a resolution of sorts but it's not exactly a complete answer as Jared makes a connection with Josephine that honestly, I'm still not sure I'm happy with. So, if you want to finish a story feeling the two prisoners have found freedom and possibly love then that's exactly what you get with this book.
