Ares is in big trouble. A vengeful witch curses him, and the first person he touches will steal his strengths, while he receives their weaknesses. When Kaye trips, Ares catches her and poof! His powers disappear, and Kaye suddenly has the strength and coordination of a Greek god. To break the curse and regain his powers, Ares must get Kaye to fall in love with him.
But for the god who makes war, making love presents a whole new set of problems...
Ares meets the heroine, Kaye, at a wedding where unfortunately for him he loses his powers to her and can only regain them by getting her to fall in love with him! Now there just happens to be the nasty side effect of Ares not only losing his strength but also gaining all of Kayes weaknesses and boy is that girl clumsy, oh and she also happens to be mortal, so what is a God to do? Plan a major charm offensive, meet her family, and get his powers back without letting her know exactly what's happened. All in a day’s work for a God!
I am used to Ares being portrayed as a big bad marauding type but under the curse of the witch, Hekate, he is thrust into a very mortal world with amusing consequences and making such a battle hardened male clumsy just added to the sense of fun. Kaye is obviously bowled over by the handsome God but she and indeed her family, are very likeable and I loved they constantly baffled Ares. I just missed the romance aspect, if honest and really wanted to believe in it more. If you are expecting lots of steam, then you will be disappointed and I feel the cover promises more than this story delivers. It is a light, fun read with laugh out loud moments and suitable for those seeking a different take on Greek Mythology.
