When the Cavanaugh brothers return home for their father’s funeral, they discover unexpected evidence of the old man’s surprising double life—a son named Blue, who wants the Triple C Ranch as much as they do. The eldest son, Deacon, a wealthy businessman who couldn’t wait to leave the ranch and move on with his life, is looking to use his powerful connections to stop Blue at any cost. He never expected the ranch’s forewoman, Mackenzie Byrd, to get in his way.
Mac knows Deacon means to destroy the ranch and therefore destroy her livelihood. But as the two battle for control, their attraction builds. Now Deacon is faced with the choice of a lifetime: Take down the Triple C to feed his need for revenge, or embrace the love of the one person who has broken down every barrier to his heart.
Mac Byrd grew up deeply attracted to her best friend's oldest brother, Deacon, but he only seemed to see her as an annoying loud mouthed hot head. Now she's all grown up and foreman of his family's ranch. Deacon hasn't spent much time around and now he's back and he's bringing trouble!
Deacon and his family never fully recovered from the death of their baby sister and Deacon has spent the last few years building up his own business. His father has died and it's time to sort out what to do with the ranch where he grew up but Deacon has bad memories and is determined to let go of the past. His solution, completely demolish the ranch. Mac has other ideas and she's prepared to fight dirty if she has to. The only problem is Deacon doesn't mind getting dirty but it's not a fight that he wants, it's Mac!
This story is centred around Deacon and Mac but revolves heavily around what happened in the past. We get to read snippets from the diary of Cass and it's such a wonderful way to pull the reader in. Each brother has issues and feels in some way to blame for the death of their baby sister. The murderer was never caught and I'm sure secrets will be uncovered as this series progresses.
If you are looking for a really HOT contemporary romance then look no further than Branded! Every book I've read by Ms Wright has been well written and filled with sizzling scenes and this Cavanaugh book is no exception. I admit to preferring paranormal books but I thoroughly enjoyed this western setting and wouldn't mind a cowboy of my own!
Branded is available at Amazon in paperback for $6.89 and the Kindle version is $7.99. At B & N, the paperback is $6.75 and the Nook book is $7.99
