An unknown assailant terminates Lars Kinsvogel’s target. Pleased by the outcome, after all dead is dead, Lars exchanges the glitz of Monto Carlo for a nearby airport intent on collecting the private plane he left there. He’s no sooner arrived when a cab jumps the curb. His instincts blare a warning, but Lars ignores them and trots over to investigate. There’s not much he can do for the cabbie, but his passenger is still very much alive—and absolutely stunning. It takes some tall talking, but she agrees to come with him.
Espionage operations and runaway love travel halfway around the globe as Tamara learns to accept her shifter side, and Lars embraces what’s been missing from his long life. Initially reticent to trust one another, it takes a series of crises and a near-fatal accident for them to take a chance on love—and each other.
Tamara is an Irish journalist determined to avenge the death of her sister. She is used to hiding her shifter nature but finds it increasingly difficult to keep her inner cat from rising as she gets closer to the odious Jaret Chen. Realizing she might never get a better chance, she actually manages to kill Chen but her journey to safety is not a smooth one. Fleeing to the airport, she realizes she has been followed when shots are fired at her taxi. A strangely compelling man rescues her and offers to help her leave the country. Lars is pure sex on a stick and all of Tamara’s hormones are taking notice but can she really trust him? He freely admits to being an assassin but as they leave the country together Tamara’s journey has only just begun!
Ms Gimpel writes such fun shifter stories and this shifter spy story is chock full of action. There's truly never a dull moment and the action comes thick and fast. Speaking of fast, the chemistry between the two lead characters is combustible! Expect this author's trade mark sex scenes to burn themselves into your brain as Lars and Tamara release their inner beasts and it's a wonderful thing!
Well written with a plot that leaves the reader breathless, this fast paced story is truly a delight to read. I happily read anything Ms Gimpel writes but have to admit to having a soft spot for the lonely Lars. He is a hero in every sense of the word and it was wonderful to see him finally find happiness. The heroine Tamara is admittedly quite naive at times but is a plucky sort of woman that makes her immensely likable. Two shifters on the run, both hide their natures. This pair is so alike and yet so very different, can they truly last forever?
