She’s a challenge he can’t resist.
Hollywood heartthrob Zachary Hunter loves women—as long as they don’t want more than a little fun in the bedroom. When his most recent movie stirs up the wrong kind of attention, the kind that includes an attempt on his life, he hires a friend’s company to locate the threat. The pint-sized redhead assigned to protect him isn’t what he expects—or wants. Worse, he can’t take his eyes off of her.

With a new security gig to pass the time until she’s cleared to return to the military, she’s figures her sexy new client will be easy to manage. And then he opens his gorgeous mouth, and she can’t decide whether to kiss him or kill him. His sex appeal may tempt her into his bed, but his sexist attitude is unbearable, and she’s going to make him eat every single word…
Dani is a dog handler and has been in the army more then ten years but her life has just taken a dramatic turn. She's been in an horrific explosion and until cleared as fit to return to duty needs to stay occupied. Now luckily, her old friend has a security job that could use her talents. Meeting the rich spoiled guy she's supposed to help protect awakens Dani's previously apathetic desires.
Zach is a writer and the darling of Hollywood but his recent storyline has seen him upsetting the wrong people. Now he's being threatened and has reluctantly agreed to round the clock protection. What he wasn't expecting was a pint sized hellion who drives him insane! Somehow he has to get under her skin because she sure is getting under his! Zach is used to the ladies flocking around but Dani is an irresistible challenge he just can't turn down.
Although I love this author, I really didn't expect too much from this book and so I'm pleasantly surprised. It's a very simple storyline which is far more character driven than plot, if I'm brutally honest but sometimes there's nothing wrong with that. It's a nice easy read that just flows along, although the romance does hot up pretty quick, but I hated the heroine Dani's lack of experience with men. She's a mature woman working in what's still considered by many a man's world, so for me it didn't quite fit. Having said that, when things hot up, it's a pretty steamy read and will delight many readers.
Interesting supporting characters and I feel there could be stories featuring those, but for me Dani stole the show. She's a woman with a back story whereas unfortunately the hero, Zach, seemed to lack depth. Oh don't get me wrong, he's front and centre, meant to get the girl but in spite of his "talent" and devotion to Dani I just felt disappointed. Having said that, he does something when he finds out Dani is dyslexic that melted my heart.
Well written and I read it in one sitting so it clearly held my attention. Part of a series but works easily as a stand alone. Ms Croft is certainly one to watch out for although this particular book was a bit too predictable for me. If you want a happy ending, Out of Control certainly delivers.
Out of Control is an e-book and is $3.79 at Amazon and $3.99 at B & N.
