Tall, lean, muscular—and definitely rough around the edges—Sean Walker is not your typical nightclub bodyguard. He’s a controller of shadows, able to wield darkness at will. But when a mysterious woman at the club turns out to have powers greater than his own, he has no choice but seduction…
Now exclusive as a standalone e-title, read the sexy story that captivate readers from New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter.
Gabby was kidnapped and experimented on when young and now she's an adult with the ability to link up to any computer and download information. She's kept herself hidden as best she can but now her secret has been discovered and her ability won't save her. Once again she finds herself being kidnapped but this time when she wakes up she's not alone!
Sean was born with the ability to manipulate shadows and hide in darkness. He works for Rose Briar, an organisation employing those like him with unique gifts. Sent with his partner to gain Gabby's trust and recruit her, what he hadn't expected was to feel so drawn to her. There's just something about Gabby Sean finds irresistible but he has a job to do and nothing and no one is going to stop him. When plans go wrong though Gabby finds herself relying on Sean. She's about to discover just how tempting he is, but Sean's not the only person seeking Gabby!
I will admit this was a quick read but it just pulled me in from the first line and had such a fast paced plot. I'm hoping there will be more books set in this world of the Rose Briar agency as there are more lost children out there to be discovered. I loved that although Gabby had been surgically altered, Sean's ability had more of a paranormal feel to it and it made an interesting combination. Speaking of combinations, Sean and Gabby together make for a very steamy read and he's such a panty wetting possessive guy! O my!
I found this to be fast paced and chock full of action. Great characters to cheer for with lots of sexual tension and filled with enough suspense to make it a great story and not just a romance. There are not many authors who can pack so much into a short story but Ms Showalter has done an excellent job.
