Keller's mafia has thrived in the fallout from the Chaos and their compound is a city of sin, a world of depraved excess where people live in fear with nowhere else to go. When Luna is taken prisoner, Bishop has no choice but to lie. As far as the enemy knows, she's his. It's the one thing that will keep her safe.
Caught off guard, Luna follows Bishop's lead. And that's where the lines begin to blur, because what's been building between them for real is undeniable. But what Keller's protecting is something he'll kill to keep under wraps and with Defiance unable to come to their rescue, and only each other to turn to, Luna and Bishop may be facing their final goodbye.
In this alternative future, motorcycle clubs (MCs) dominate the world that's left and might is most definitely right! Luna has spent her life in the world of MCs and knew pain even before Chaos happened. Feeling trapped, her only escape had been her work as a mechanic for Defiance MC but everything changed the day Bishop decided to join their club. He may not have said with words, but his actions let Luna believe maybe, just maybe, he saw the real her. Mow he's gone and Luna can't imagine a life without him somehow in it.
Bishop killed Keller's son and the former Mafia boss has Bishop in his compound as a fighter. It's an arrangement meant to last for one year but the way things are going Bishop may not survive that long. Old rivalries put lives in danger but when Luna turns up at Kellers, it's all Bishop can do to keep his hands to himself. Keller is a wily one though and has secrets Bishop needs to discover to help his friends back at Defiance. It seems claiming Luna as his own is the only way to keep her safe, so that's what Bishop will do. It's no hardship as all he really wants is Luna in his arms willingly. The events of her past continue to haunt her and their enemies are closing in, so Bishop and Luna may not survive the next chaotic event!
Bishop is a hero who in the last book, Redemption, really caught my interest. He's best friends with the mute soldier, Mathias, but will do anything to protect those he cares about. Forged from steel, he's a young man with pain inside and yet he won't reveal it to anyone. Enter Luna, who has spent the last couple of years pretending to be something she's not. Her walls may be built high but Bishop is the one man who can send them crashing down.
It's a solidly built world that these MCs inhabit and it's possible to imagine the events this author describes so vividly. There seems to be quite a lot of similar books written around this theme at the moment, but Ms Tyler has a knack for bringing her stories to life which others often struggle to emulate. These damaged characters are compelling and truly captured my interest as they try to survive in what's now an inhospitable world. Power and corruption dominate the story and yet Bishop at times seems untouchable. He is written as a man who acts like a machine and yet this is a guy with a conscience. When he is with Luna, it's as if all his hopes and dreams may come true. Unfortunately all he can hope for is to keep her safe!
A very surprising twist at the end and I loved the peripheral characters who helped to save the day. Is it a romance? Well yes, and there's sex, but it's more of a journey for two souls toward redemption. Salvation is aimed at NA readers as the leads are young, but a good story can and should be enjoyed by everyone. Ms Tyler writes stories that suck you in and don't let go until they have wrung your emotions dry. If strong, sexy characters appeal, then you will love those in the Defiance MC!
Salvation is an e-book and is $3.49 at Amazon. The Nook book is $3.99.
