It's Christmas and there's only one present Drake wants under his tree and that's the elusive shifter, Verena. For months he has watched her, dreamed of somehow getting her to agree to go out with him, and now this very night is their first date. Drake has plans, big romantic and hopefully dirty plans but with a heart as big as Verena's will everything go his way?
Two years ago Verena became infected and banished from the human world. Her move had huge repercussions but now she's ready to find out if Drake is the male she thinks he is. He's gorgeous, honourable, and it's Christmas, so time to take things up a notch maybe. Then a call comes in and Verena cannot ignore it but luckily Drake is on hand to assist and it's time for Verena to confront her past in more ways than one!
Yes, Christmas Flame is quite short but Ms Roane packs a lot in. First, there's the human trafficking plot that has been running through the series, then of course there's the burgeoning romance. I loved that previous couples were mentioned and then add in the newer human content and it's really opening up the world that these stories are set in. Best of all for me was Drake's inner monologue, absolutely hilarious! If you are the sort of reader who does not like your books bogged down with too many hot scenes, then I think you will be pleased as it's a passionate story but the intimate scenes do not dominate.
Set at Christmas and with an almost Dickensian edge this story leads the way for the author to further explore Five Bridges and I for one, can't wait
