Positive. With two little lines on a pregnancy test, everything in Lizzy Rollins' ordinary life is about to change forever. And all because of one big mistake in Vegas with Ben Nicholson, the irresistibly sexy bass player for Stage Dive. So what if Ben's the only man she's ever met who can make her feel completely safe, cherished, and out of control with desire at the same time? Lizzy knows the gorgeous rock star isn't looking for anything more permanent than a good time, no matter how much she wishes differently.
Ben knows Lizzy is off limits. Completely and utterly. She's his best friend's little sister now, and no matter how hot the chemistry is between them, no matter how sweet and sexy she is, he's not going to go there. But when Ben is forced to keep the one girl he's always had a weakness for out of trouble in Sin City, he quickly learns that what happens in Vegas, doesn't always stay there. Now he and Lizzie are connected in the deepest way possible...but will it lead to a connection of the heart?
It's not that long ago that Mal, the charismatic and slightly crazy drummer, found his perfect woman in Anne but she comes with a younger sister, Lizzy, and the uber protective Mal sees it as his place to protect both the new ladies in his life. Now here's the rub. Lizzy sets eyes on Ben, the band's giant like bass player, and all her lady bits sit up take notice and beg for more! Ben clearly is interested but as a self confirmed bachelor and mindful of his promise to his best friend not to get involved with "his little sister", he tries to keep his hands off her, but Lizzy has a wild side. One night in Las Vegas forces them together with repercussions that just keep rippling. Ben made it clear he doesn't want a relationship and tore Lizzy in two, but a few weeks later it's apparent that Lizzy was left with more than broken dreams because Lizzy is pregnant! Oh boy, is there going to be trouble!
Forbidden love is a trope that works very well in romance and the fact that Lizzy is totally, completely, and irrefutably off limits to Ben, does not help matters. They say forbidden fruit is sweeter but I think in this case Ben just finds Lizzy to be addictive. They have a friendship that's sweet and it's clearly a comfortable bond they share with honesty between them that is completely new to the player like Ben. However, his refusal to accept there could be more between them does kind of grate at times and they seem to keep going round in circles. Queue much angst! Lizzy hopes Ben will realise they have a deep connection but Ben? well Ben's in for a few shocks.
What I really loved about Deep was the humour and dialogue, not to forget Lizzy's hilarious internal monologues! So well written, these characters come to life with each word Ms Scott writes. Yes, it's a romance with hot chemistry between the main characters but it's also got quite a bit of angst in it but with pregnancy hormones running rife I'd expect nothing less. Speaking of those hormones, poor Lizzy needs, needs, needs! That big grumpy guy had better watch out because Lizzy has had a taste and hungers for more! Fun, sexy and well worth reading.
I'd suggest reading all this series in order but this does work as a standalone. Having said that, I'm not usually a fan of this genre but Ms Scott elevates a rock star romance through the stratosphere and makes it a book you can't put down. I loved it and if you enjoy romance then you will too.
I was gifted a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.
