With her ship gone, she must rely on Sten, a human clone, a man who has fought all his life to master himself. She despises his kind and detests Sten’s growing hold on her. Though he never takes no for an answer, surely it’s the plague that makes yes slip from her tongue like melted butter? Or should she blame her own traitorous heart?
Hordes of slavering zombies await them. Sten and Kaysana unlimber weapons, don goggles, and set a course for the origin of the plague. Yet victory will be hollow if they cannot also solve the puzzle of their hearts.
Captain Kaysana is on a mission to try and stop the plague that's quickly sweeping the land. A plague that brings sex driven, flesh eating zombies and unfortunately, not even her own Airship is safe. Escaping with Sten, a Frankenstruct, she feels she has no choice than to continue but the lust is affecting them and keeping a clear head seems nigh on impossible. Sten treats Kaysana like no man before and try as she might to ignore what he offers, Kaysana is far from immune. Sten had been intrigued by the feisty Captain before but now, he has her right where he wants her and it's on her knees, at his mercy, but his goal is only her pleasure and complete and total capitulation!
I think if new to this genre then this is an easy book to follow as it's not bogged down by too much machinery and inventions. There's been a war brewing but this story fixates on the plague that is rapidly escalating. If truthful, I was a bit in the dark about some aspects of its origin but could easily see that like some modern viruses this was a pandemic that could bring terror to the world. The lust generated by this plague quickly escalates, bringing violence and death and as the story progresses, our intrepid couple reach the epicentre but their journey is far from mundane. Expect an alpha male to take control and show his woman just how kinky she can really be!
Okay, first of all, Kaysana has an awful lot of backbone but she's driven by past events in her life. Kaysana has no reason to love Frankenstructs and tries so hard to deny her attraction to Sten, but frankly that's a lost cause! Sten is perhaps too controlling for some readers and their initial physical interaction might seem anything but consensual. That being said, it's clear Sten has strong feelings for Kaysana and truly desires to bring her only the sweetest release, but boy does he get creative! Some readers might be shocked by just how Sten proceeds but it's a story that unashamedly proclaims its BDSM elements, so just go with the flow. As for supporting characters, well Emily stole the show and I'd love to read more about her and it would be remiss of me not to mention a certain wolf, Cadrach, who you could say helps save the day!
Read Lust Plague with an open mind and enjoy the passion and romance. This is without a doubt a love story that just happens to be kinky and quite explicit at times. There isn't a huge amount of world building but I suspect that might be addressed in the next book. I finished this and unfortunately I'm a little hazy about the origins and intent behind the plague. There is a pivotal scene but I still feel I'm left with questions but to say more would give spoilers. I would recommend this book to these who don't mind erotic scenes but do want a solid story. Lust Plague was an adventure with a happy ending and that's my favourite type of book!
