The thing is, Andrea Ridge doesn’t expect him to. In spite of Peter being a killer-for-hire, he’s one of the few Bears she feels completely at ease around. She’s used to being the weak link—the victim—and believes that when mating season passes, he’ll change his mind.
Sweet Drea is the soothing mate Peter craves, and bold Peter is the protective companion Drea needs. But if they can’t convince themselves that they deserve each other, they’ll miss the only shot they’ll ever get at true love.
--Promising Peter is a Shrew & Company novel and part of the BAD BOY ALPHAS collection. Each Shrew & Company story contains a complete romance.--
There's obviously a storyline running through this series involving humans trying to experiment on the weres and it seems to me Drea is somehow slap bang in the middle of it. Her old alpha, Gene, was abusive but now he's on the run and the sexy bear Peter is on the case. Except Peter is feeling the urge to claim his mate who just turns out to be sweet Drea. Peter would never hurt her, but perhaps Drea isn't quite as afraid of him as he thinks but before they can truly work it out, things go drastically from bad to worse!
I can't really say too much but I can say the first half of Promising Peter lacked action as it was all about the couple getting to really know each other. It was easy to follow with just the odd bit of back story dropped in which allowed me to understand a little of previous events. Perhaps not the sexiest book I've read but it didn't suffer because of that. What I really liked were the meddling or do I mean caring group who surround Drea. There is a happy ending but not everything is solved so there's clearly more to come. Best of all, Peter has a brother Soren, so let's see what Ms Trent has planned for him!
