Piper Oakes is done with being a shifter and doing whatever she can to jettison her wolf. If she doesn’t, her alpha will force her to be his mate, even though they have no bond. In an effort to force her obedience, he’s taken everything from her—family, friends and any sense of safety she ever had. There’s no reason for her to be a wolf anymore and every reason to walk away.
Saving her wolf is his only chance at love…
Doctor Jaxon Comyn has never met a wolf who could be his mate. To fill the void of living alone, he throws himself into the study of human medical science. When Piper comes into his life, it’s his one shot at having it all, but claiming her as his mate means taking on both her alpha…and his.
Welcome to Eliza Gayle's Southern Shifters series, where alphas move heaven and earth for their ‘happily furever afters.’
Note this is a novella, not a novel. Longer than a short story, shorter than a novel. While it’s a good idea (and lots of fun!) to read Bad Kitty by Eliza Gayle, it’s not required. This story stands alone with no cliffhanger and an HEA ending.
Piper is a wolf on the run. Her alpha, Vincent, murdered her parents and he is determined to make Piper his mate. Now alone Piper is trying to hide out in the city far from her home but the longer she's there the harder it is to connect with her wolf and it's making Piper very sick indeed.
Jaxon is a doctor working in the human world when one morning he scents a she wolf on the bus, but who is she and why is she in his clan’s territory? When he sees her again he realises that something is terribly wrong with the female as wolves don't get sick! Jaxon persuades Piper to go home with him but has he bitten off more than he can chew? Piper might make his wolf sit up and take notice but not everyone is happy to see her and then her past crashes back into her life and it's not a pretty sight!
I really enjoyed this short read and it was such fun to catch up with characters from Bad Kitty, particularly Rafe and Simon or Doc as he calls him. The interesting dynamics of Kitty as a cat shifter also got addressed and then of course there is the huge problem of the thoroughly nasty and corrupt alpha, Vincent. Yes, that male is hot on Pipers trail and even though she's not his fated mate he is determined to take her.
Michelle Fox is a relatively new author to me but I will certainly look out for more of her books as I really liked her characters and thought her ideas were very interesting. It had it all really with suspense, drama, and of course romance. Yes, a delightful way to spend my evening
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
