NOW SHE NEEDS HIS HELP
Kyle never stopped loving Abby. So when Abby uncovers evidence of a human-trafficking ring, leading to her sister’s kidnapping, he swears he’ll stop at nothing to bring her sister home and keep Abby safe. Caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse and blindsided by their own explosive desires, they must set aside the past before it’s too late.
Kyle acts first and thinks later. Yes, he's a bit of a hot head but he is in the unique position of having a second chance at love, and it's not all about romance. No, Kyle has made mistakes in the past and his latest assignment takes him back to his roots where he has to confront some of them. Misunderstandings and lack of communication can so easily cause problems and not only has Kyle lost the woman he loved, but he also left behind his family.
I really don't wish to say too much about the story as it's a story about an issue that is unfortunately very current and on the increase. I liked that Ms SeRine decided to bring it into the light without getting too bogged down in the truly awful details. What we get is a glimpse at those who seek to profit from misery and it's an incredible mixture of action and intrigue. What helps ramp up the tension is the fact that Kyle's previous mishandled case is connected with the one in which Abby is currently entangled. Kyle is not the sort to just let things go, no, he's far more bullish than that.
Perhaps a bit too predictable and sweet for some readers but I didn't object to the connection. What really brought this story to life were the supporting characters and I couldn't help but wonder what the author has planned next. This is suspense and there is a very tangled web to get through before this couple have a chance of a happy ending, although they do love to explore possibilities! If you expect just one bad guy you might be left reeling at what Ms SeRine comes up with here! No spoilers, but definitely not what I expected.
This is the first in this series but I notice there is a prequel of sorts in the anthology The Way of the Warrior, that helps flesh out the dynamics of Kyle's family. So I'm definitely expecting to read a lot more about these heart breaking Dawson boys.
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
