Halloween—with its tricks and treats—is a dust bunny’s dream come true. Just ask Lyle, Sedona Snow’s faithful sidekick. But for Sedona, it’s a nightmare. Though her new job managing a small hotel and tavern on Rainshadow is helping her move on from her tragic past, a bizarre disaster down in the catacombs has brought a pack of rowdy ghost hunters to her inn.
And now, Sedona’s ex has arrived on the island, claiming he wants to get back together, just as a newcomer appears to have a strong interest in her. Cyrus Jones is the new Guild boss in town. He has his own agenda when it comes to Sedona, but even the best-laid plans are no match for the passion that springs up on Rainshadow….
What I liked: I love the Harmony world with all it's mysterious happenings and of course, how can you not enjoy a book with dust bunnies. I've read all the Harmony books and enjoyed every single one. They are so completely different but well developed I just can't wait for each new entry.
Sedona has become my favorite character of all the Rainbow Island inhabitants so far. She's savvy, smart and mostly fearless. Sedona's dust bunny, Lyle, is certainly protective and just as smart. He's a great companion for her.
The opening of The Hot Zone grabbed me right away. From that point on, I found it extremely hard to stop reading. Sedona's love interest, Cyrus Jones, wasn't as dynamic as previous male leads but maybe because Sedona just held my complete attention. In addition, while I did figure out most of the bad guys, one took me completely by surprise. Believe me, that's hard to do. If I hadn't been so invested in Sedona's character, I might have figured it out.
Ms Castle is one of my favorite authors and her books are some of the few I collect. The tempo and flow of The Hot Zone are, in my eyes, exceptional. While the Harmony world is still a mystery, she drops little tidbits in each book to keep you coming back for more!!
What I didn't like: I wish it wasn't so long in between books. Yeah, I got nothing. I thoroughly enjoyed The Hot Zone!
This is the 11th book set in the Harmony world and there are still so many questions to be answered and discoveries to be made. I can't wait for the next entry!!
Highly Recommended!!! (This could be read as a stand alone, but your enjoyment might not be as great)
