To keep the balance between good and evil at the court of Annwyn, Prince Felan ap Gwyn has two weeks to marry and take the crown. But he wants more than just power—he wants love; a love he once had but was too stubborn to hold on to.
SHE'S STRUGGLING TO FACE THE FUTURE
It took years for Jacqueline Ara to put her life back together after Felan abandoned her. She's moved on, even if her heart still burns for him. But with war in Annwyn looming and death bleeding into the mortal world, Felan and Jacquie will need to heal old wounds and rekindle the passion that once welled between them . . . or face losing everything.
Crown Prince Felan has not always put his duties first and is seen by many as a bit of a playboy prince with a love of gambling and parties and it would be fair to say that many at court see him as a bit of a waste of space! But Felan has changed over the years and events in his life have led him to make choices he deeply regrets, in short, Felan has grown up! Now keeping his cards close to his chest, Felan is determined to save his people and in order to do that, he has to convince the only woman he has ever loved that she should marry him.
Jacquie met Felan when she was eighteen and impressionable and it didn't take long for her to fall deeply in love with him and even when he told her what he really was, she still wanted to be with him. Tragically they were torn apart and now, seven years later, Jacquie still bears those scars and has tried so hard to put the past behind her. What she doesn't need is Felan showing up in her life and reopening old wounds, but that's exactly what happens when he reappears. Time is running out for Felan and of one thing he is certain, Jacquie is the woman he wants for his queen but Felan is not the only Fae who seeks the throne and Jacquie’s life is in danger. Can Felan convince Jacquie to give him a second chance in time and more importantly, will he tell her the truth? It's far more than just her hand he wants....it's her soul!
I confess it took me a while to warm up to Felan as he is a bit of a dilettante prince and I'm not exactly thrilled by the attitude the Fae have towards sex, but he did win me round as the story progressed. Brave, noble, and prepared to sacrifice for his people, Felan would make a worthy king but his path is not an easy one. Too much has happened to make it a done deal with Jacquie and my heart went out to her for all the suffering she had faced. I'm not sure I would have forgiven him but as I don’t wish to include spoilers, I will say no more.
The court of Annwyn has it's own unique set of rules and it's very different to the human world and I thought Ms Reine did an amazing job of showing the different attitudes. Written in a way that captured and held my attention, I really enjoyed this story and can't wait to see what the author dreams up next. This was an enthralling romance with action as well.
A definite recommendation!!!!
